The Barn Fellowship Ballymoney
Cheers Youth Centre

Mission statment

We seek to reach the young people of Ballymoney with the love of Jesus and to address their spiritual, emotional, social and physical needs. We endeavour to hrlp them make better life choices and to address issues that are relevant to them.

Opening times

Monday, Tuesday, Friday : 7.30pm – 10.00pm. Tues/ Thurs. Aft. 3.30-5.30pm + Project groups meeting at various times.

Staff

The centre is staffed by John and Margaret Scott (Managers), Tommie Linton (Project Manager) + a dedicated team of volunteers from various churches. New volunteers always welcome to work face to face with young people or in the management of the centre. Practical work is always required and there are also lots of opportunities to raise funds or help in many other ways.

Activities

Drop-in sessions – pool, table-tennis, competitions, Xbox, internet, coffee bar etc. These sessions provide opportunity to befriend the young people and engage with them, hopefully to encourage many to join a project group.

Project

Peer Leadership, Drug and Alcohol Awareness, anti-social behaviour, Street Intervention project, NEELB groups etc. Some of these projects are OCN accredited and have already proven useful to young people regarding interviews, employment, university applications etc. We also have young people referred to us by the Youth Justice Agency for reparation work.

Future

With our new training room up and running we hope to expand the range of projects we can offer and to be an effective resource within the Ballymoney community.
